SheVaCon Board Of Directors

Congratulations to the 2008 Board of Directors!

Thank you to the following people for all of their time and hard work that they tirelessly volunteer each and every year and at times, with a lot of grief.

Gina C. Adler

Gina has been working with SheVaCon since its birth in 1992. Starting out as it's first Art Director . She now continues in her 17 th year as SheVa's first Chair"Whoa"man, along with her Husband Troy and with her other duties of art director website/Forum construction & maintanance, the scheduling programing team, media guest liaison and fan group liaison/costuming and childrens programing. When she isn't in the art room you can find her roaming the con taking pictures and having a good time. At home Gina has been back to the drawing table challenging her art, working on costumes for her and her family and spending time with her children.

Troy R. Adler

Boy Howdy!!! 16 Years and I'm still around. I can remember when we decided to do Shevacon. We were sitting in a hotel room at Technicon, Kevin Brown, Blair Grim, Dave Davies, Harry Shifflet, Gina and Myself. I cant remember who was the first to say "Hey, why don't we just do our own convention" But years later, here we are. Its hard to believe that out of all the original staff members there are only 4 left. I have been running the art room since year one with my wife Gina. Have worked as guests liaison, programming director, Co chair, and this year as con chair. You can usually find me in the art room, in 2009 I will probably be hiding somewhere though so you will just have to search me out. After watching our last con chair get arrested by the 501st legion, I'm a bit paranoid.

Karen Grimm

Hi all. My name is Karen, and like Troy and Gina, my hubby Blair and I have been members (and happy slaves ) of Shevacon since her beginnings ohhh so many years ago. Many of those years have been occupied with trying to bring you one of the BEST consuites anywhere. I've always been a fan of Sci-Fi/Fantasy both in books and movies. I do tend to lean more toward fantasy, but I do love a good military Sci-Fi read every now and then. Favorite authors, in no particular order: McCaffery, Tolkein, Eddings, Christopher Paolini, Elizabeth Moon, David Weber, and many, many more too numerous to write. I also have to give a plug to my newest favorite and fun read Charlaine Harris' southern vampire series. I also love science (always my favorite subject in school) and space, so love to keep up with NASA news.

Computer Room Director

Andy Simmons

Andy has been attending SheVa Con for quite some time and after being in the wrong place at the wrong time, was asked to break on through to the other side and thus begun the downward spiral. All silliness aside, Bad Andy has been on the convention circuit for many years now, quietly working behind the scenes in whatever capacity is need. Whether it was being a stage hand and assisting with major events, working security, or just providing a smile and a helping hand, Bad Andy was there and enjoying the things going on around him

Steve Stanley

Steve Stanley is a long-time Roanoke area fan, who has attended and worked on conventions ranging from locals to Worldcons. He has assisted with every department and has occupied the posts of treasurer, secretary, and con chair. He first served with SheVaCon on the 2007 committee. He is working primarily with publicity and publications, but is available to aid other departments. His interests include costuming, s-f history, and fannish history.

Phyllis Van Epps

I've liked reading, especially Science Fiction, ever since I was a kid. I joined Roanoke's own Nelson Bond Society many years ago. Some of us NBS hooligans, I mean members, went to conventions then; notably RiverCon and NorthAmeriCon in Louisville KY, BaltiCon, SciCon in Virginia Beach, and RoVaCon. I even went to WorldCon 1985 in Atlanta and saw the Hugo Awards. I feel honored to be chosen for SheVa Con's board of directors!
